Catholics may not knowingly take part in the liturgical celebrations, apostolates, or other activities of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, Archbishop Shawn McKnight of Kansas City, Kansas, wrote in a July 2 statement following the episcopal consecrations. U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Brian Burch has described an informal Independence Day dinner he hosted for Pope Leo XIV at his residence in Rome. A native of Karlsruhe, he originally studied law at Heidelberg University before entering the seminary. Worse than Germany: Archbishop Erio Castellucci of Modena-Nonantola has proposed a form of liturgical "co-presidency" in which women would lead the Liturgy of the Word while priests would preside over the Eucharistic consecration. The proposal appears in a speech published on May 24 in the diocesan bulletin, delivered at a conference organized by the Centro Italiano Femminile in Carpi. Tibetan Rituals in a U.S. Church. Worse than Germany: On Monday, more than 60 Tibetans gathered at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley, Massachusetts, to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 91st birthday and mark the conclusion of the "Year of Compassion," an initiative of the Central Tibetan Administration. The event opened with a ritual in which participants chanted "Om" three times and tossed tsampa (barley flour) into the air. Attendees also made mandala offerings by bowing and placing a white ceremonial scarf before a photo of the Dalai Lama. The celebration continued with speeches, traditional Tibetan songs and dances, and performances by students from a local Tibetan Sunday school.

"FSSPX Confessions Are Valid" - Müller Contradicts Tucho: On July 6, K-TV asked Cardinal Gerhard Müller whether confessions heard by priests of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X are valid or invalid. Contrary to Cardinal Tucho Fernández, he replied: "The confessions are valid, but illicit. The power to forgive or retain sins is conferred through the sacrament of Holy Orders. Its exercise can only be restricted by the bishop or the Pope, as provided by canon law."
