Wie die italienische Regierungschefin Giorgia Meloni am Donnerstag mitteilte, hatte das italienische Kontingent der UN-Mission Unifil die Idee, "dem libanesischen Dorf Debl ein neues Kruzifix zu spenden". Italy has sent a replacement statue of Jesus Christ to the southern Lebanese village of Dibl, in a gesture coordinated through the western sector of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The crucifix was installed in a residential garden after the original structure was destroyed during recent violence in the border area. Dibl, located near the Lebanon–Israel frontier, has frequently been affected by instability linked to cross-border hostilities. The reinstallation of the crucifix is being seen locally as both a restoration of a familiar landmark and a gesture of continuity for residents in a heavily militarised area.
