In Malabo, Pope Leo XIV signed the guest book after meeting with civil authorities and diplomats, briefly looking to prepared notes as he wrote. The moment drew lighthearted attention on social media, where some users joked he seemed like “the kind of person who would never cheat on an exam.”

RFK Jr. explains why he cut $500 million in mRNA vaccine funding. “I’m not anti-vaccine.” “The $500 million that we canceled were for vaccines that don’t work.” “These were for COVID vaccines.” “mRNA, we now know, does not work for respiratory illnesses.” “These are vaccines that the industry made almost $100 billion on.” “Why are we financing it?” “If anybody thought it worked, the industry would pile in and make it work and they didn't.” “It’s a waste of government money.”

Brazilian Bishops sing "Bella Ciao"

Communards?
During World War II, Italian partisans (especially those of a communist and socialist orientation) adopted the song "Bella Ciao" as an anthem of resistance to fascism and Nazism. The song became a symbol of the fight for freedom, equality and justice, and the lyrics were adapted to reflect the fight against the fascist regime. After the war, "Bella Ciao" became an international symbol of left-wing, labor and anti-fascist movements. It was sung at protests, union meetings and political events all over the world, from Latin America to Europe. Her message of resistance to injustice and solidarity with the vulnerable makes her a permanent political symbol.

Hegseth scraps mandatory flu shots for troops
Washington — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Tuesday that the Department of Defense will no longer mandate U.S. service members to receive the flu shot each year.
In a video posted to X, Hegseth said troops will be free to choose whether to get vaccinated against the flu, and the shot will not be required by the Pentagon.
"The notion that a flu vaccine must be mandatory for every service member everywhere in every circumstance at all times is just overly broad and not rational," he said.
Hegseth said the decision to end the flu-vaccination mandate is part of the Trump administration's effort to "restore freedom and strength to our joint force."
"We're seizing this moment to discard any absurd, overreaching mandates that only weaken our war-fighting capabilities. In this case, this includes the universal flu vaccine and the mandate behind it," he said.
A memorandum signed by Hegseth on Monday states that "effective immediately, …More

The late great ALAIN DELON’s parents divorced when he was 4yrs old and put him up for adoption - so his answer when asked — “if God exists what would you ask him after your death?” — hits me hard every time.

So sincere and real! It so speaks to our need for and love of our parents, and how as parents we must nurture that love and build on it. It is so sad when even people who have been successfully adopted miss their real parents.

Leo XIV Considers Francis a "Great Gift": While flying from Angola to Equatorial Guinea today, Pope Leo XIV commemorated his predecessor, Francis, who died on April 21 last year. Leo XIV alleged that Francis had given "so much" through his words and actions. "He promoted an authentic respect for all men and women, and taught us that we are all brothers and sisters," claimed Leo XIV, adding: "We thank the Lord for the great gift of Francis's life to the Church and the whole world."

On the first anniversary of Pope Francis’ death, Pope Leo XIV remembered him as a leader who gave greatly to the Church through his life, words, and actions.“I would like to remember, on this first anniversary of his death, Pope Francis, who gave so much to the church with his life, his testimony, his words, and his gestures,” Pope Leo said. He recalled how Pope Francis truly lived with “closeness to the poorest, the little ones, the sick, the children, the elderly.”

John 6: I am the Bread of Life, Understanding the Eucharist, Catholic Bible Study, Fr. Tim Peters
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 6,35-40.

Jesus said to the crowds, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.
But I told you that although you have seen (me), you do not believe.
Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me,
because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.
And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day.
For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day."

2017-05-28 – For Souls Who Feel Discouraged Trying to Do God’s Will
My Florecita,
Let us write for My poor little children who suffer the torment of wanting to do My Will, and seeing themselves so poor and incapable of doing it, and who feel like they disappoint Me.
My little ones, receive these Words that come from My Fatherly Heart. Yes, it is I, your Father. Your Abba Who loves you and is happy with your desire to love Me.
Come and lay your little head on My Heart, and rest there; and with every beat of My Heart let My Peace and the certainty that I understand you come into you.
I see you as little children and I receive you as such, happy that My children want to love Me, know Me, obey Me.
I Am the patient Father who does not expect you to give Me everything immediately.
See how I have done everything in nature, even your own formation in your mother’s womb – each part of you is formed little by little – at the beginning you would not have been able to survive outside of your …More

Tucker Carlson Says He Is ‘Tormented’ by His Past Support for Trump
“I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people,” said the conservative commentator, who has broken sharply with the president over the war with Iran.
nytimes.com/…4/21/us/politics/tucker-carlson-trum…
Tucker Carlson, who was often at Donald J. Trump’s side during the 2024 presidential campaign, is now expressing remorse for that support, saying he will long be “tormented” by his role helping Mr. Trump return to the White House.
Mr. Carlson, a titan of conservative media who has broken sharply with Mr. Trump over the war with Iran, acknowledged that he was part of the “reason this is happening right now,” referring to the conflict.
“It’s not enough to say, well, I changed my mind — or like, oh, this is bad, I’m out,” Mr. Carlson said in an episode of his podcast released Monday.
“It’s a moment to wrestle with our own consciences,” Mr. Carlson said on the podcast, speaking with his brother, Buckley, a former …More
