After months of hardship, the Virgin returns to console her children — a moment of faith and hope for the entire Christian community of the Holy Land. JERUSALEM — INTERRELIGIOUS PILGRIMAGE On May 5th, the international and interreligious pilgrimage promoted by the association "Way to Jerusalem" took place, a powerful witness to dialogue and understanding between peoples. A moment where faith becomes a bridge across cultures and religions. AL-KHADER — FEAST OF ST. GEORGE THE GREAT MARTYR In the village of Al-Khader, Metropolitan Benedictos, Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Vicar for Bethlehem, presided over the solemn feast of St. George the Great Martyr, known as "the Victorious", in the presence of numerous faithful. TRANSJORDAN — SACRED ARCHAEOLOGY: JOHN THE BAPTIST In the St. Francis Hall of the Custody of the Holy Land, the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum held a conference on the Ascension of Jesus and John the Baptist in Transjordan. Professor Győző Vörös, Director of the Hungarian Academy in Jerusalem, presented the findings of recent excavations at the Baptism Site and Machaerus. MOUNT OF ASCENSION — LIKE THE FIRST PILGRIMS On May 13 and 14, the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land and local Christians made the pilgrimage to the holy site of the Ascension of Jesus. The chapel preserves the stone which, according to tradition, marks the spot where Jesus ascended to heaven before his disciples.
